5 instances that define Manchester United

  1. The 1999 treble:

It was a historic and memorable season for the Red Devils when United went on to win the treble. What was most unforgettable about that treble was United’s victory in the Champions League. United were trailing by a goal to Bayern Munich in the final of the tournament and seeing three minutes added as the stoppage time, the onus was on United to capitalize on it. It was from the corner awarded that Teddy Sheringham brought United on level terms as Ryan Giggs’ shot fell on his feet. The game looked to head into the extra time but then came on the late drama as another United corner saw Sheringham’s header guided home by Solskjaer, helping United win the Champions League almost unexpectedly.

  1. Class of 92:

United have always encouraged promoting youth and Sir Alex Ferguson exactly did that with all the success he achieved. The likes of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Phil Neville were part of the famous Class of 92 which saw the youngsters go on and become legends for the club, which always give us strong reminders of the benefits of promoting and encouraging young talent.

  1. Wayne Rooney:

The former England International captain is more than a Legend at United even though they have parted ways now. Rooney is the highest goal scorer in United’s history after having signed for the Reds in 2004 from Everton. Rooney had his ups and downs at the club but his intense dedication and phenomenal qualities led him to achieve big things at the club. He stayed with the club through their thick and thin and is someone who definitely comes to mind when one thinks of United.

  1. 20 league titles:

Manchester United is the most decorated club in English football. United’s success in the league has been no secret. Knocking Liverpool off their perch was Sir Alex Ferguson’s dreams and it was a huge factor when it came to motivate the team to win the league. United have won the league 20 times, the most by any Premier League club, something which can only be broken by Liverpool but by the look of things looks very unlikely in the near future.

  1. Sir Alex Ferguson:

United have seen some great managers manage the club but the one who changed things drastically was Sir Alex Ferguson. Sir Alex managed United for 27 years, winning 13 Premier League titles, 2 Champions League titles, 5 FA Cups and 4 League cups. It is incredible what he has achieved with United and even now as an avid fan he regularly comes over to watch United play and whole heartedly supports them.
