5 reasons why Manchester United should have signed James Rodriguez:

  1. Best midfielder available in the current market

While there can be arguments about who is the best midfielder currently in the world, there is no doubt that James is one of the finest midfielders in the world right now with all his capabilities. Manchester United were rumoured to be in for Roma’s Radja Nainggolan, but so far nothing has materialised. Rodriguez is a quality player, and he sure would have been a major boost in the midfield for United. Get all the best tennis predictions and betting tips.

  1. Strong potential

People do forget that James Rodriguez was the star of the 2014 World Cup, single handedly helping Colombia go far in the tournament. He is a big game player and can make the difference with a single moment of magic. It is rumoured that Carlo Ancelotti might even bench for Muller, showing importance to the quality of James. United needed such a presence in the midfield along with Pogba as both of them could have run riots both in England and Europe.

  1. Link up with Pogba and Lukaku

The Colombian gels up well with his teammates, and it would have been a joy to watch James link up with Pogba and Lukaku. Lukaku is young and quick, and James with his passing abilities has the potential to find him and set up the Belgian to score plenty of goals. Pogba needed a quality player like James to help him in the midfield especially when opposition players crowded him. It would have been wonderful to have seen the trio play together and destroy the opposition.

  1. The need of a proper no. 10

Following Wayne Rooney’s departure not only leaves a void in the dressing room but also calls for a need to bring a new no. 10. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata are strong candidates for that position, but they surely won’t be getting the no.10 at United. United need a strong attacking minded player, and James Rodriguez could have easily been that player. He has the vision and passing abilities to dictate the attacking play, and it is a big loss that United missed out on him.

  1. South American market shirt sales

United are a big name in the football world, and sure they do make a lot of earning through the sales of jerseys. United have had South Americans in their teams before, but it is safe to say that James would have been the biggest South American player United would have signed till date, even beating the likes of Angel Di Maria. United could have grown their reach deeply into South America with this signing and could have only profited both on the pitch and commercially.
