Five of the best Brazilian world football

5) Gabigol

Touted as the next big thing in world football, Gabriel Barbosa rose to prominence with some fine performances for Santos as he displayed his clinical instincts for the Brazilian side on a regular basis. After impressing for the national side in the Copa America in 2016, Gabigol earned a move to Europe as Inter paid £29 million for Euros for his services. However, he failed to settle in at Inter with the Italian club sacking managers for fun last season thus depriving Gabigol of any kind of consistency. He moved to Benfica this summer and has since shown signs of returning to his top form.

4) David Neres

One of the most gifted young guns of Brazilian football, David Neres has enjoyed a stellar season thus far for Ajax with 2 goals and 4 assists to his name already. The precocious attacker showed promising signs whilst playing for Sao Paulo FC, which were enough to convince Ajax to sign him. A diminutive figure on the pitch, Neres takes supreme advantage of his short height turning around the defenders with his brilliant ball control. Brazilian head coach Tite has already earmarked Neres as a future star for the national side, which will only further increase Nere’s confidence.

3) Richarlison

The Watford forward has taken the premier league by storm, scoring 3 goals and assisting 2 in just nine league appearances for Marco Silva’s side. Richarlison, despite his tender age, has already become an integral part of Watford’s impressive attacking lineup. While his atrocious misses against Chelsea did cost the Hornets, he has single-handedly turned the game on its head for Watford this season scoring at crucial times. He has done incredibly well to displace club captain Troy Deeney from the starting eleven and as such his performances have not gone unnoticed. A move to a bigger club would soon be on the cards for the talented forward; however, for now, Watford and Marco Silva seem like the ideal place for him to continue his development.

2) Malcolm

With 4 assists and 5 goals to his name already, Malcolm is hitting great heights in the French football, a league dominated by the galaxy of stars at PSG such as Neymar and KylianMbappe. The fact that Malcolm gets a mention itself is a testament to his incredible quality. For a player of his age, Malcolm has demonstrated great character to cement his place in Bordo’s starting eleven. His impressive quality already had Borussia Dortmund chasing his signature, who were reportedly keen on signing the Brazilian as a direct replacement for the departed OusmaneDembele.

1) Gabriel Jesus

Nominated for the Golden Boy award, Gabriel Jesus has denied suggestions that the physicality of the English league could prove too much for him to handle. Instead, the Brazilian has been scoring for fun ever since arriving at the Etihad. Moreover, his impressive work-rate and self-less attitude had convinced Pep Guardiola to replace Aguero with him as City’s number nine. While Aguero is indeed in a different class, there is little doubt that Jesus possesses all the attributes to eclipse Aguero has the Premier league’s best striker. Ten goals and 3 assists in all competitions to his name already, Jesus has looked up for it this season as Manchester City have looked unstoppable in the Premier League.
